Oakland Plantation Ride Photos May 2013

Another great group and great ride out of the Oakland Plantation. It was warm and a bit breezy. We broke into a group that did the 14 mile route, and another that did the 21 mile route all the way to the dam at the end of Cane River Lake.

Thanks for all who came and we hope to see you all next time!

Thanks to all the friends and families that made it to the first group ride this morning. We had good weather and lots of fun!

If you weren’t able to make it, don’t worry! We are already discussing when to have another youth ride.

First Youth Group Ride

Hello all,

Please join us for our first ever youth oriented group ride! It will be next Saturday the 27th on the NSU Campus. We will meet at the parking lot on the North East end of campus near the Elementary Lab School by the now empty graduate housing.

The ride will take place on the trail by Chaplin Lake which is about 1 1/4 miles of nicely paved path. Riders of different experience levels may want to only do part of the trail or multiple laps. Since the trail is off of the main campus roads this is a great environment for younger riders to get some experience biking with others without the worry of general traffic. More advanced riders are welcome to ride the road as well and tour parts of campus if desired.

This is a full family event. Please stay with your children to help them as while the trail is mostly flat and smooth there are a couple of sharper turns and small hills that inexperienced riders will need help with. You are responsible for your own children. All ages and skill levels are welcome – whether a tricycle/balance bike, training wheels, or full on mountain/hybrid/road bike ready. Bring your bike and have fun riding with your kids!

Please make sure to bring water and that your children have helmets. And let’s go out and have a great time!

Oakland Plantation Ride Photos

We had our first group ride on February 16th. We rode out of Oakland Plantation, down 119, and looped back over the bridge by Melrose Plantation. We then followed the scenic Isle Brevelle trail (484) back to meet up with 494 to get us back to Oakland. It was around 14 miles total, in sunny weather with some wind. A fun time was had by all.
